Hiking At St Ed's!

Here are a couple of pics from our labor day weekend. We busted out my going away present from my old boss (thanks Glenn!) & took Molly out for a walk around St Edwards Park. Gosh, we live in the coolest place! Where else in the country can you practically fall out your door & and land in the middle of such beautiful woodlands?
Ian thought it was funny that I was changing Molly in the trunk of our car so he took a picture (what can I say ... I guess being a parent releases your ghetto fabulousness). ;) I don't find it odd changing her in the trunk while I'm in the woods. However when I couldn't find a changing table in any of the bathrooms in Old Bellevue & I was changing our kid in our car next to the ritzy bridal boutique ... I have to admit I did feel a little odd then. :-P

For those of you who don't know, I let my friend Sarah talk me into doing the Danskin triathalon so we could lose the baby weight together (I think she was calling us the Postpartum Prancers). Baby weight is gone & I had a blast! :) Definitely want to do this again next year. Didn't have much time to train (what w/ a newborn & whatnot) so I'm hoping to decrease my time next year. However for this year I am very proud of myself for just surviving. Here is a picture of me & my training partner Mollywobbles. She did a great job of cheering me on during our morning runs. :) The person up top is our friend Bethany (another training partner). Thanks everyone for the encouragement! Ian & Lindsay came along to cheer me on during the race. :)

Fun Night In :)

We rarely have other people around during our nights in to take pictures of our family. Ian's mom was just in for a visit & she took these pics. The first pic shows us goofing off w/ Molly (she gave us her first real squealing laugh that night ... Ian & Molly were dancing to Jackson Five & she was just cracking up at her weird daddy. After a lively time of family dancing we decided to wind down by knitting some new binky holders for Molly & listening to daddy play the guitar. (Molly helped w/ the knitting as you can see. I have to say, knitting w/ wet yarn is a little harder then I thought it would be. Let's just say Molly premoisted everything for me). ;)

First Solid Food!

Molly ate her first bite of solid food on Wed! Pretty exciting stuff for us. :) A decent amount ended up on her face/bib/hands (she's only 5.5 months & she already wants to feed herself! What an independent little kiddo. :) She was fine w/ the cereal however she was not so thrilled w/ her first taste of water. I put a bit in her bottle (when you start solids you're supposed to give them a little water to to help their kidneys out). She got all excited to see the bottle then she got this really disgusted look on her face when she realized there wasn't milk in there. hehe ... pretty cute. :)

Adorable Baby

I placed Molly on this blanket to roll around. I turned my back to her for a second & next thing I knew she had rolled up in it. I can't say I blame her ... this is one comfy blanket! Thanks Neville fam! :)

So Blessed!

So for those of you non-parents out there, feeding your kid either in the late night or the early morning is one of the coolest experiences (when you get past the whole "I'd rather be in bed right now feeling"). ;) The house is quiet, your normally very active little baby just wants to be held & cuddled with. I love it (when I'm not totally sleep deprived)! Anyways the other day we got some of that time together & it wasn't too late in the evening so I wasn't in the zoned out stage. Ian was out late so we had the house to ourselves & I had all of the lights dimmed so Molly just had this really soft lighting on her. She was soo beautiful! I actually started crying a little just looking at my baby & realizing how blessed I was to be her mom. She was all nestled up next to me staring at my w/ those big blue Ian eyes. It was a great mom moment. :) So I'm sitting there tearing up at how much I love being the mom of this precious creature & I'm just drinking her in. I mean we have a gorgeous baby! Sometimes we just stare at her. So she gives me this really quizical look. I tell her "it's okay love, Mommy's not sad, Mommy just loves you so much". Then my baby girl starts pooping like nothing else, and loudly! I realized that she wasn't giving me the quizical "what's going on" look, she's giving me the "I'm about to poop like I've never pooped before" look. And she did! So it was a very funny way to end a very precious moment. I guess that's motherhood right? ;)
